I'm author of the best selling Meridia Falls series and co-author of the best selling Theme Park Mysteries series.

I'm currently knee deep in my fictional universe, the AffinityVerse. The enormous amount of stories in my head finally forced their way out and created their own playground. I'm loving every magic-infused second of exploring it.

I'm married and live with my wife, two kids and cats in Doncaster, England. As a family, we love to travel, especially to Florida, as we love theme parks. You could say that is an understatement.

I love reading all genres. Physical books or ebooks on my kindle, I don't mind, so long as I've always got a good novel to read. Some people say they can sleep anywhere, I can read anywhere. As soon as the page turns, my mind blocks everything else out.

I'm always open to questions, comments, feedback or just if you want to say hello. I'd love to hear from you.

This is the first title in the Meridia Falls trilogy.

Logan returns to his birth town, Meridia Falls, just before his seventeenth birthday, but much has changed in his absence. His elder sister, Cassie, hasn’t been seen since her abduction ten years ago and is now presumed dead. Logan has spent the time since then incarcerated inside Serenity Grove and fed a steady diet of pills in an attempt to keep the flashbacks, vivid dreams, and memories at bay. But his return to Meridia Falls is the spark that ignites a dawning realization that all he witnessed a decade ago did not stem from the frightened mind of a ten-year-old boy but from becoming a witness to the otherworldly.

Logan’s status as town newbie gives the reader an outsider perspective that allowed for a full and organic exploration of setting. His narration enhanced the feelings that all was not well in his new abode, however immune its residents had become to their surroundings. Little basis is given for the reader to feel this way, however, and yet Green cleverly keeps the feeling of foreboding present throughout. It was left for them to decipher whether every scene and every individuals were sinister antagonists or if the atmosphere was merely playing on my senses.

Despite this, the fantasy elements of this first book in the series were very light. Indeed, much of the first half felt like a contemporary high-school story and the latter portion like a mystery thriller. This only heightened my intrigue as each mention of secrets unknown and snapshots from the past never accumulated into providing the reader with a satisfactory explanation of the events unfolding. This kept me invested in the story-line and determined to puzzle out the enigmas that were too slowly piecing together around me.

The cliff-hanger ending had me immediately reaching for book two and doubly determined to solve the multiple mysteries haunting Logan, Meridia Falls, and now I.

I received this book for free from instafreebie's

I only gave this novella a 3 star because of all the errors. The over all novella is very well done. The plot and the characters are done with piazza. You get hooked on the plot and have this need to finish it so you know what's going on and I can't wait to read the next one even though the editing is very poor.

Logan is seventeen. When he was younger, he witnessed his sister being kidnapped and dragged through a white door in the middle of the woods. At least, that's what he thought. After extensive treatment and therapist, he has now accepted that his dad was the one who kidnapped and murdered his little sister, Cassie. Starting fresh, he is moving back to Meridia Falls to live with the Grandmother he never knew he had. Everything is grand, besides the reoccurring dream he has about a strange girl leading him through the same woods that his sister disappeared in, of course. His first day at his new school, he's happy to be getting back to some normalcy, that is until he meets a girl who throws a proverbial spanner into the wheel of his life. The same girl he's been dreaming about, who may just hold all the answers that he's been looking for.

Can I just say, I was SO surprised by this story. It's another one that I got for free from a random email, so I never really hold high hopes for books I find this way, but this one blew me away. The story was incredibly engaging and a definite page turner. I struggled to put it down. It's fast paced, even through the slice of life portions of the story setup. I'd put this as a young adult...I'm not sure if I want to say sci-fi, or fantasy to be honest, because this instalment gave a wonderful opening to an incredibly promising series, but it hasn't really given much away as to the nature of the full story yet, which I personally think is fantastic and will definitely keep people coming back for the next book.

I found the character of Logan to be relatable, and just all round a character I can get behind. He's not ashamed of the struggles that he's had, he's not ashamed of what he went through, but he's trying his best to move past everything and have a life worth living. He still misses his sister loads, which is understandable, being the big brother and all, and I think it's so endearing that he still talks to her photo, and also writes her letters - this last part has been mentioned as being part of his grief counselling, but it's something that he still does, and I absolutely love that. The character of Marilyn, or Maz to her friends, was a nice surprise. She's the rich girl, but I actually loved the development of her character (even though we've just met her we're told about what happened before Logan came on the scene), I really enjoyed her character and I'm hoping that she's a permanent part of the story as the series continues. As for Penny, I liked her, but I didn't get a good feel for her in this first book. I feel like she'll be an interesting character, but my verdict is still out on her as a whole.

The plot is incredibly interesting and holds loads of promise, I'm hanging to get my TBR pile down so that I can buy the rest of the series and see where the hell this story is going to go!

There were a few issues editing wise, just missed words, or wrongly spelled words, but as a whole, it honestly didn't detract from the story that much.

The one thing that makes me cringe a little, and this MIGHT be a bit of a spoiler, so you can choose to leave now if you wish....

Insta-love. That is a thing that is very prominent in this story. I understand the reason behind the feelings, at least, as far as it's been explained so far. And I feel like it is a GREAT explanation for the inclusion of the whole insta-love thing, but it just irks me still. Like I get that these characters have known about each other way before they even knew the other actually existed in real life, but it's the first day and they're already dropping the love word. I think this could be why I also have an issue with Penny to be honest. I'm hoping that my opinion changes as the story continues, but we're yet to see. I also found it a bit strange that Maz is so accepting of the random door she encounters. I get that her boyfriend couldn't see it, and that raises even more questions that I need answered, hence me hanging to get on to the rest of the series. I suppose, the more I think about it, the more she didn't exactly have a chance to freak out properly over it, which I'm guessing that's going to come in the second instalment in this series.

Overall, I'm incredibly intrigued, and this is a strong start to what is promising to be a fantastic series. It's short, just over a hundred pages, so if you THINK you might like it, you're not exactly wasting time if you read it and decide it's not for you. So I say, give it a go, and see what you think :)

For a new start, he moves back to the place where everything first happened, doesn’t make any sense on reflection (you’d think he’d pick a spot on the globe that Meridia Falls is furthest from and move there for a new start). To hold the audience attention stories raise a question and then answer another question, raise another question, answer a different question. It keeps the audience hopeful that there will be answers eventually. This book raised question after question after question and didn’t answer a single one, creating a mess of questions with no hope in sight. It had the stereotypical time spent in school with the over-stereotyped mean girl bully, and the over-cliché instalove. Neither Logan nor Penny had a personality. Sure, they had interesting background info, and things happened to them, but there was nothing actually in their personalities. Penny was supposed to be this interesting weird outcast, but as far as I could tell, she did nothing to earn the rep other than bullies picking on a target. The only character who actually had an interesting personality was Maz. And I really wondered why Logan wasn’t more interested in her. And why in the world was he infatuated with Penny since there was nothing in her personality to attract him, other than that initial dream they had together so therefore they had to be in love? Yes, Maz said she had a boyfriend, but he was largely absent from the book (until the final chapter), so absent I started to suspect she had fabricated him just to keep would-be-Romeos at bay. The whole touching and getting flashes of the past is really cliché, the seeing into other people’s dreams also cliché, and the hallway of mysterious doors has made plenty of appearances in my own dreams long before reading it here. What really worked in this book was the setting. I love the mysterious aspect of the small school, small town, surrounded by a thick forest. Also it feels like false advertising to call this a “Book 1”. A book should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. This just cut off in the middle on an abrupt cliffhanger. It really should be marketed as a “Part 1”. Even TV series don’t normally end their eps on a cliffhanger. Most of them have endings and then something that leads into the next episode sometimes. There were a lot of British-isms, which I didn’t think were in use in Canada, but I’m not an expert on that. Oh and I know dialogue is more engaging than just rambling in thoughts, but someone who has been committed in the past and really doesn’t want to be considered crazy you’d think wouldn’t be talking aloud to themselves. Just saying.

NOT Kindle Unlimited {book 1 by itself is not but was given out at one time as freebie of some sort}, also included in various places and in this set is the Cross Files pamphlet or whatever as well, which seemed to also be available from writer's emails. The rest, including the 1 with 2 pack is ku as are the other ones.

10 years ago, I watched as my sister was dragged through a mysterious white door that stood alone in a forest. My mom, stepdad, and an army of shrinks tried to convince me it was my dad that had taken Cassie. They told me he’d taken us hiking in the forest, intending to kidnap us both. That he dragged Cassie, kicking and screaming, into the trunk of his white car. That I got away and my mind invented the whole stupid door business to cope. Eventually, I believed them. My dad is on death row, where he belongs. My sister? I never saw her again. Now, I want to forget and start over. No one knows me in Meridia Falls. It’s time for a new beginning, a new horizon - and a new Logan Collins..."

If you like how Marvel takes science and magic and makes a baby-of-a-concept out of it, with magic being (so far) Skulduggery Pleasant-ish and the crew being a Scooby-Doo gang in the making, give this freebie a try. It's just the first part of the whole novella, so it'll take you maybe an hour or two MAX to finish and decide if you're into it. Although the author is easily my father by age, the voice is teenager-y to fit the main character (with a Marvel-y tragic backstory). So with those promises that the author gave me impressions on, I instantly continued reading Book 2, Sunburst - and to get answers to the piling heap of unanswered questions and hellofan anger and annoyance I got from things being (so far!) unexplained and unjustified - cause, again, this is only part 1 of a whole novella! So if you're looking to get hooked for one reason or another, off you go and download now and then come back and fight me.

When I started reading this book I thought it was just going to be a book about teenagers and the new guy in school who gets harassed etc but boy was I wrong! Oh this all happens too don't get me wrong but so much else happens and the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Cassie the young sister of Logan one of the protagonists of this mysterious story which gets more entangled as we read on. Seems that the white door he had always insisted he had seen his sister dragged into was not just a hallucination and he was not going crazy! But would there be a white door in the middle of a forest anyway and where was Cassie taken to? This turned out to be a most thrilling read, creepy to say the least but one which also left us with a cliffhanger and crying for the next book in the series. The word magic has been mentioned, could the next book take us to a magical realm too?

What a cool start to new series. Although not a full book, it was written very well and hooked me by the end of second chapter. I just had to find out what happened to Logan's sister. And by the end there were to many unanswered questions/mysteries left unfinished. Plus what is up with the mystery white door. I am hooked and have to read the next one to see what gets answered. So I found the book to be addicting and a bit freaky in a clean scary way. Plus looks like there is magic in this series but I only got a taste....I need more. I received a free copy when I joined Green's newsletter and cannot wait to read the next chapter......

Logan, Maz, & Penny

Logan Collins is moving to Meridia Falls, Nova Scotia to live with his grandmother. He meets Marilyn (Maz) and Penny his first day at high school. Logan feels a strange connection to Penny from the first. She is aware of the odd history of his missing sister.

Excellent characterization & plotting.

A new start

Strange. Totally different. A vaccine is given and then unusual things start occurring to those individuals. What’s behind the white door? Well you will have to get book 2 to get the answer.

Absolutely a great book, what a great read. This book is a little gem. The twists and turns in this book will leave you wanting to read more and more, and they are jaw dropping at the best of times! The main character is a young boy name Logan Collins who has just turned 18 years old in the book, and he has a bit of a very suspect past. His sister went missing when he was younger, and they never found her, and nothing has ever come to light of why she just went missing, and why she was never found. Just when you think you have the gist of the book, then the writer decides to add more intrigue and yet another twist to the story. This book had me engrossed that when it came to the end, I wanted to read more and more, but I will have to wait :(

I cannot recommend this book enough to people young and old alike, it has something in it for everyone. Great great book xxxx
